The week opens with a genuine mountain storm in Angel Fire. Monday brings a rain and snow mix with a high near 42 degrees, west winds around 24 miles per hour gusting as high as 47, and an 80 percent chance of precipitation, so roads around the Moreno Valley and over Palo Flechado Pass on US-64 can turn slick. Tonight turns partly cloudy with a low near 24. After that the week settles down nicely: Tuesday is sunny near 49, Wednesday sunny near 53, Thursday mostly sunny near 49, Friday partly cloudy near 49, and the weekend looks bright, with Saturday mostly sunny near 53 and Sunday sunny near 55. No weather alerts are in effect, but Monday drivers should check NMRoads before heading out and take the wet, windy morning slowly.

There is plenty on the calendar once the sky clears. Monday starts with Aqua Fit classes at the Country Club pool from 9 to 10 in the morning, and Open Mic Night follows at 7 in the evening. On Tuesday, Shuter Library hosts Science Hour from 10:30 to 11:30 in the morning, and Graylight plays live music at Elements from 4 to 6. Wednesday brings Aqua Fit again at 9, 3D printing classes at Shuter Library from 2 to 3, and Brent Berry performing live at the RV Resort from 6 to 8.

The music keeps coming later in the week. Thursday opens with Minecraft Coding at Shuter Library from 10:30 to 11:30, then Raven Hills plays Par and Grill from 11 to 1 and Ry Taylor plays Elements from 4 to 6. Friday night is karaoke night in the valley, with karaoke at the RV Resort from 6 to 8 and MadKat Karaoke with Kat Carillo from 8 to 11. Saturday wraps the week outdoors with a fly fishing clinic at Angel Fire Resort from 10 in the morning until noon, a fine way to spend a sunny fall morning in the valley.

In village news, Angel Fire's fire station project took a step forward last week. Fire Chief Vance reported that the New Mexico Finance Authority has approved a 1.7 million dollar PPRF loan, financed over 30 years, to support the village's fire station project, and he thanked the staff who helped secure it at the October 22 meeting in Santa Fe. Meanwhile the resort calendar has turned a page: the golf course and tennis seasons both wrapped up on November 1, and the mountain is now pointed toward winter. Angel Fire Resort's planned opening day is December 11, and season passes are at their best price through November 11, so this calm, sunny week is a good time to get ready for the snow season ahead.
