  • Business Spotlight: Taty at the Bump, a Cozy Angel Fire Cafe for Breakfast and Lunch

Taty at the Bump is a bistro-style cafe in the heart of Angel Fire, and its name is pronounced TAH-tee. The cafe describes itself with a cheerful promise of breakfast, lunch and plants, and that short phrase captures the spirit of the place well. It is a bright and welcoming stop where visitors can begin a mountain day with a proper coffee and a satisfying meal, and where locals can settle in with friends before heading out to the trails, the lake, or the slopes.

The cafe is run by Hannah Mercek and Phil Master, whose story is rooted in the Moreno Valley itself. According to New Mexico Magazine, the two arrived in Angel Fire in 2016, fell in love with the valley, and worked at other local restaurants before opening Taty Cafe in 2022. They later moved into the former Bump Coffee location and merged the two names to create Taty at the Bump. That journey from newcomers to cafe owners gives the business a genuine local foundation, and it helps to explain the care that goes into both the menu and the welcome that guests receive.

A first-time visitor should start with the coffee. The cafe serves specialty coffee drinks, and New Mexico Magazine singled out a vanilla blueberry latte enjoyed there. The menu was built to offer lighter and healthier fare that can be packed easily into a backpack, which makes it a practical choice before a hike or a day outdoors. Guests will also find breakfast bagel sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, pastries, and a notably hearty avocado toast. For something different, the cafe also offers boba tea, milkshakes, and smoothies, so there is a good option for nearly every taste at the table.

The setting is part of the appeal. The Visit Angel Fire visitor guide calls Taty at the Bump a local favorite and a great place to grab breakfast or lunch with friends. Its patio looks out toward the resort mountain, and guests are welcome to enjoy pastries there with their pup. Inside, the atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with house plants and a friendly pace that invites people to linger a little longer over a second cup. It is the kind of small mountain cafe that quickly becomes part of a visitor's routine and part of a local's week.

You will find Taty at the Bump at 3375 Mountain View Boulevard, Suite D, in Angel Fire, and you can reach the cafe by telephone at 575-240-6084. Because mountain businesses can adjust their hours with the season, it is wise to check the cafe's Facebook page for the current hours before you go. Whether you are fueling up for a day on the mountain, meeting friends for lunch, or simply looking for a good cup of coffee in the Moreno Valley, Taty at the Bump is well worth a stop.
