  • Angel Fire Weekend Preview: Halloween Karaoke, a Fishing Clinic, and Sunday Rain
The village of Angel Fire in the Moreno Valley with the Angel Fire Resort ski mountain and its runs rising behind the town under a cloudy sky.

Friday, October 30, 2026

Angel Fire heads into Halloween weekend with a calm, cool Friday in the Moreno Valley. The morning started fair and cold, around 33 degrees with calm winds, and Friday turns partly cloudy with a high near 57 degrees. Showers are expected late tonight, with a low near 33 degrees and about a 60 percent chance of rain, so anyone heading out for the evening should take a warm layer and expect damp roads after dark. There are no weather alerts in effect for Angel Fire.

Friday evening belongs to karaoke. Karaoke at the RV Resort runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Angel Fire Resort, and MadKat Karaoke with Kat Carillo follows from 8 to 11 p.m. on the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce calendar. Saturday, Halloween day, brings a fly fishing clinic at Angel Fire Resort from 10 a.m. to noon, a fine way to spend a crisp morning before the costumes come out. Saturday itself turns out mostly dry, with morning clouds giving way to afternoon sun, a high near 52 degrees, and west winds around 15 miles per hour. It cools fast after sunset, with a low near 30 degrees, so trick-or-treaters and drivers alike should plan for a cold evening and watch for each other on valley roads.

Sunday brings two changes at once. Daylight saving time ends overnight, so set clocks back one hour before bed on Saturday and enjoy the extra hour: sunrise on Sunday comes at 6:24 a.m. Mountain Standard Time. The weather changes too, with showers likely through the day, a high near 54 degrees, and about a 70 percent chance of rain. Rain continues Sunday night with a low near 32 degrees, and Monday could mix rain and snow showers with a high near 43 degrees. If you are driving the Enchanted Circle or US-64 on Sunday or Monday, check NMRoads before you leave and slow down on wet pavement, especially over shaded, high stretches.

For a quieter weekend, this is one of the last late-fall weekends to enjoy the valley at an easy pace. Scenic drives around the Moreno Valley and out to Eagle Nest Lake, a walk on the valley trails after the morning chill lifts, and a warm drink in town all fit the season. Dress in layers, start outdoor plans earlier in the day while the light lasts, and remember that sunset comes at 6:06 p.m. on Friday and just after 5 p.m. on Sunday once the clocks change.

Winter is not far behind the rain. Angel Fire Resort lists Opening Day for its 60th anniversary winter season as December 11, 2026, with the season running through March 21, 2027, and season passes are at their best price through November 11. The resort has confirmed there will be no night skiing this winter, with lift hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., so pass holders and holiday planners should build their ski days around daylight hours. Enjoy the Halloween weekend, and let Sunday's rain be a reminder that snowmaking weather is getting closer.
